Collaboration with Rose Carlin

This is a collaborative visual diary, where Rose and I found humor in the pandemic. Both started painting places and memories from quarantine, I worked in black ink and Rose worked in full color. We began finding commonalities in our experiences so we integrated our pieces together into 4 concepts [expanded below]. We traded pieces throughout the process, adding on to each layer but always working in ourcolor palette. We quickly found that the best way to memorialize this shared experience was through lighthearted humor to imitate the bizarre experience of the world shutting down.

  • Quarantine starts, and we obsess over learning how to take care of ourselves.

  • Images of where we both spent our time. Trapped in the 4 walls.

  • Finding a safe haven in what feels like a post-apocalyptic world.

  • Finding peace and discovering new ways to socialize and find normalcy.

Skizzors

Fun Fact, I have the same nightmare every time I get sick.

Here’s a painted and animated clip I did to explain to others what it looks like.
